High-ranking diplomats from Korea, China and Japan have agreed to hold a trilateral summit as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Seoul on Oct. 28 said the agreement was reached at a senior officials' meeting in Tokyo the same day attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Chung Byung-won, Japanese Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Takehiro Funakoshi and Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong.
The three officials noted progress in their trilateral cooperation since their last summit in Seoul in May this year, pledging to bolster future-looking collaboration among them.
They said they will seek to host the next talks and foreign ministers' meeting at the earliest and most convenient time, while closely discussing the schedule.
The three sides will also maintain consultations to keep boosting trilateral cooperation promoted in six sectors: human exchange, sustainable development, economy and trade, health and aging, science and technology and digital transformation, and disaster and safety.
